Organic Chemistry 2 (CHEM 022)


High School Diploma or equivalent, and Organic Chemistry 1 or equivalent.

Course Description

This course conveys information that provides students with an understanding and appreciation of the following functional groups of the simple organic molecules found in living systems: alcohols, phenols, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, amides, esters, amines, and carboxylic acids. The importance of these molecules in living systems is described and stressed. Biochemistry, biological macromolecules and their role in metabolism are also introduced.

This course is offered for either 4 credits or 5 credits. Please contact the school(s) to which you are planning to transfer your credits to confirm how many will be required for your program. You must notify ISP of the number of credits you will be earning before your class begins so we can plan your coursework accordingly. Note that this course includes 1 unit of laboratory work.
